Welcome to the Openbare Werkplaats

Are you a professional, designer, craftsman/woman or hobbyist? Then you can get started right away in our WorkPlace! The Openbare WerkPlaats is the place to be for anyone who wants to work with wood, metal and engineering, but doesn’t have access to the necessary space and professional machinery or tools. Rather watch than read? Timmerman Koos has made a short promotional film about us (Dutch)which shows what we have to offer. You can also take a look at our promotional film that could be seen on TV.

Facilities of the Openbare WerkPlaats

In addition to workstations, machines and tools, we have a canteen, small store, possibility to storage, free WIFI and free parking. There is also always someone on hand to answer your questions, give tips or explain how a machine works. Curious? Have a virtual look around the WerkPlaats.

Rent a workspace

You rent a workplace including the use of our fixed machines per day(part). Reservations can be made by phone or mail. Registration is done during your first visit. Click here for our current prices. Are you looking for a workspace for a longer period of time? Then renting your own workspace maybe is something for you.

Prefer to take a course (first)?

Are you still missing some knowledge, skills or confidence to get started on your own? Even then you’ve come to the right place! At the Openbare WerkPlaats you can choose from more than 50 different courses in the fields of wood, metal and engineering, in Dutch and English.

The Openbare WerkPlaats is an initiative of Remco van der Vecht and Stijn van den Ende.

The WorkPlace is open 6 days a week (Mon-Sat), from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. You can find us at Cruquiusweg 78 in Amsterdam.
